What is the intention of the two processes? - The "morning pages" is the process of getting up every morning and writing three pages of whatever comes to your mind. We often have a lot of thoughts weighing us down and obstructing our creativity, and by writing the morning pages we can get everything off our mind and onto paper to allow our creativity to flow. The "artist date" is time that you set aside and commit to nurturing your creative mind. It should be used to find inspiration and to let your creativity flow and brainstorm without interruptions
Are there other rituals, moments, or procedures you use in your own practice that resembles the techniques mentioned in the excerpt? - I write in a journal when I have things on my mind and I make to do lists when I feel like I need to organize my thought or I have a lot I need to do. I also spend a lot of time searching for and looking at art that I like and writing down ideas that I come up with while looking at inspiration.
How do you overcome moments in your creative process where you lack motivation? - If I'm struggling to find motivation or to start making something I will sometimes make myself settle on not making something very important or big; I'll kind of just sit myself down with some materials and make something for the sake of making something. Sometimes what I make will come out crumy and I don't look at it ever again and sometimes it turns into something I really like or something that motivates or inspires me to make something better.
